Let’s briefly take a look at the perennially popular options quartz, granite and marble and then a brief look at some less common yet still really cool kitchen remodeling ideas.
Ah, granite.
When you hear “new countertops,” granite has got to be one of the first things to come to mind. It has been popular for decades for both kitchens and bathroom countertops and looks very lavish. If you’re going for more of a deluxe remodel, this is a great choice and we just so happy to know of the best granite and marble suppliers in the Fort Lauderdale area.
Even the Romans admired marble. That’s how ever-popular marble is. It’s as timeless as can be and comes in a variety of different colors and types so it will still be a unique look and feel for your kitchen or bathroom. Calcutta marble, Carrara marble, Levadia marble, Blanco Ibiza marble, dark emperador marble and more are all options and types of marble that we have installed in the Wilton Manors area.
Quartz has gained popularity for new kitchen or bathroom countertops in recent years. It’s an engineered material and will give your space a very clean and modern look. Fortunately it doesn’t require special cleaners like marble or granite do so it may be a good option if you look the look and feel of marble or granite but are more conscious about budget.
Now let’s take a look at some fun and different options. Butcher-block countertops look wooden and come in cherry, teak, maple, oak, ash, black walnut etc. They’re a great option of you like more of a farmhouse or country type feel for your kitchen. They’re affordable and can also be used in just certain areas of your kitchen rather than all of the countertop space. Ideally you’ll want to keep these countertops away from open flames like gas stove ovens for obvious reasons.
Cement countertops don’t sound that appealing upon first mention but they actually open up a lot of options and – if executed correctly – can look very pristine and luxurious in a kitchen. Concrete countertops offer almost endless customization. You can choose the exact color, shape, edge profile and sheen depending on what type of coating you go with. It can even be made to look like granite or marble if you want. You can even put integrated lighting in it or perhaps a stenciled logo or design!
It’s also highly durable and you can probably imagine. It’s often reinforced by adding glass fibers which makes it strong and relatively lightweight. It will last you for many years.
A downside is probably cost if you decide to go with concrete countertops that have a lot of features as mentioned above. It can be expensive because of the labor that’s involved.
